EVENT: Asian New Zealand Artists Hui | Saturday 8 July 2017

E ngā mana,
e ngā reo,
e ngā karangarangatanga maha,
tēnā koutou katoa

Hainamana invites you to a hui to discuss the role of Asian New Zealand artists in the field of contemporary art.

Over the past two decades, the emergence of Asia as an economic and cultural epicentre has lead to a re-evaluation of its role within the narrative of international contemporary art. Occurring amidst a backdrop of territorial anxiety and search for multiplicity within an increasingly narrow political field, this transformation raises essential questions about Asia-New Zealand relations, our identity, and what it means to be ‘Asian’ within the context of Aotearoa New Zealand.

The hui will be an opportunity for visual artists and cultural practitioners around Aotearoa to come together and exchange knowledge, address concerns and propose radical ideas in a safe space.

The Asia New Zealand Artists Hui is open to all visual artists and cultural practitioners with an interest in contemporary Asian New Zealand art.

**Noho marae bookings are now closed.**
